nPersuasion and Conformity
nPrejudice and social justice
nRoFor me, the movie of moon is very difficult to understand. I watched this movie twice, I kind of understand a little about this movie. The main character in this movie is Sam Bell, and it happens in moon. We cannot live without technology now, and our planet is facing very serious pollution and energy shortages. Sam is from an energy company, and his company sent him to Moon to get Helium 3 to solve energy Shortage problems. Sam had signed contract with his company, he needs to stay in Moon three years. Gertrude Stein, "If I Told Him: A Completed Portrait of Picasso"

Gertrude Stein, "If I Told Him: A Completed Portrait of Picasso"
We read this poem in the class; each person read three to four lines. Obviously, this poem is very difficult to read. A lot of us read very “mess” on this poem. Picasso drew a picture for Stein, and she wrote a poem for him. In the picture, we can see how is seriously sitting on the couch. Painter uses his painting to express his inspiration. Writer uses their writing to express their inspiration. Whatever write or paint, they just use different skill to express their mood and thought. This poem is good, but it’s too difficult to me to understand it.

the summry of Chapter 2

The summary of chapter two is the main character Edward Prendick is found by a young man. He is very weak and curious about where he is and who man in front of him is. The man gave him a dose of some scarlet stuff which tastes like blood, and makes him feel stronger. The man is telling him where he found him and how he is when he is found by him. Suddenly, the strange noise is showing up, and the strange attitude of young man. Edward felt very strange, but he doesn’t ask something to young man. Edward feels hungry and asks some food from young man. And young man tells him that his name is Montgomery and a little of background of himself. From the conversation, Edward knows he is a scientist. The strange voice still exists around of him, and he calls Montgomery to come. Montgomery is coming with boiled mutton; Edward forgets noise when he sees mutton. After a day, Edward finds out he recovers pretty good and he can walk now. He asks some questions of destination of this boat. Montgomery tells him this boat will go to Hawaii in the end, but before to land Hawaii, this boat will land to an island which he lives and there is no name for the island so far.

painting description

Painting: Echo of a scream
Painter: David Alfaro Siqueiros
The year of publish: 1937
The objective of this painting is there are two little boys who have the same expressions on their faces, one boy has an enlarger head, and the other boy comes from his mouth. The little boy wears a red cloth and is sitting on the floor. Both boys have the same expression on their face; they are frowning and their faces are full of pain and anger. Behind them is a mess. All of the buildings are collapsed and all of glasses are broken, even trees are all fallen. The weather is not well. Also, there is no shiny day; the whole city is enveloped in the dust.
The reason why I chose this picture is the two boys’ expression attracted me. I think there must be a story behind this painting. The painter must have suffered very badly or he felt very lonely. I think to be a child is the happiest age in our life. There is no economic things they need to worry about; there is no education pressure they need to deal with. But there is no happiness on these two babies, all they have is pain and anger. And they don’t have a home behind them and there is no one with them. I think a war is just over. They lost their family and their home. I think the painter wants to use the two crying babies to express what he has suffered. He uses his painting to tell us the sacrifice of war is human. The powerful men want to fight because of their power, but they neglect the innocent people. A lot of kids will become orphans after war, and a lot of adults will lose their family. And their home won’t exist after war.

outline of a streetcar named desire

My thesis is William through Stanley and Blanche's dialogue and action to show us how different desire do they have.
Blanche’s has very strong sexual desire. She was fired by school because she seduced her student. And when she lived with her Stella and Stanley, she even flirts with Stanley. Like when Stella goes out, she asks Stanley to tighten her zipper to her. And even though she knows Stanley doesn’t like her, she still make smile to talk to him. And later, when Stanley’s friend came to his house to play poker, she uses very ambiguous attitude to talk with them. When she first time see the courtesy of Mitchell, she ask her sister about Mitchell right away. And she can even kiss with the collector, the men she never meets before. She likes wanting to flirt with all of men who around her.
Stanley’s desired can’t be control, like an animal. There is no way to know when he would angry; he couldn’t control his own emotion. Like when they played poker, Blanche and Stella listened to music, he wanted them to turn it off, but they didn’t. Then he just throws their radio out from window. And he hits his wife when he was angry, he doesn’t care his wife pregnant or not, when his emotion came in, he doesn’t even know what he does. Finally, he rope Blanche, it may just emotion came in. but it still shows Stanley’s personality is uncontrollable. When he woke up, everything is passed, he missed his wife, then call his wife to come in. in this desire, we would understand Stanley is not mature, he is uncontrollable desire.
In conclusion, the author uses their dialogue and action to show us their different ways of desire, blanche’s controllable desire and eager to have sex. And  to Stanley’s he is too emotional.
